POND DIPPING AT THE WWT PENCLACWYDD
An interesting and educational day was spent by the juniors at the WWT Centre at Penclacwydd on Wednesday, April 9th. As many of the older pupils were on a residential course at Llangrannog, it was only fair that the remaining pupils had a visit to partake in outdoor activities.
The opportunity to walk around the site and observe the wide variety of waterfowl was an excellent learning experience followed by a session of pond dipping.
Under the guidance of the WWT staff, pupils in small groups had hands-on opportunities to use nets and catch and identify the small pond animals. Viewing the animals under a powerful microscope on a television screen added to the interest and educational value.
It proved a very worthwhile experience.
